No Gas To Stove

The gas valve is open and there is no gas making it to the stove, the oven and the Thermowell. What could the problem be ? There is gas coming into the house and to the furnace....

Check the following:

1. There is gas coming out of the valve that connects to the supply line coming through the wall. If not, you may need to call a plumber (ouch!) or trace it back yourself - there could be a secondary valve in the line feeding your supply to the location of the stove.

2. If there IS gas coming out of the valve, make sure it is getting to the end of the flex line that connects to the CHAMBERS.

Thanks Todd, Check and double check....I found the problem, it was the super deluxe safety we installed ! IT decided it was necessary to turn everything off ....now, I am up and cooking again. Thanks !

My "super deluxe", I call it that only because it worked, is a {here I go again] New Old Stock General Controls MR-2 Thermopilot Valve, Green Band-Single Couple Model. The tech sheet is dated 3-15-53. This valve was installed when we first got Frances but this is the first time it was activated and I'm wondering why it happened. Anyway, I am glad that it works!

The guy who got us going originally has a supply of these and other old new stock items...as far as i can tell, it looks like the same setup but i'm no engineer....just an idea guy here.

I was very fortunate to find out about a local guy who specializes in vintage refrigeration only I was told he was a stove specialist. This was before we even purchased our range and I spoke with him about vintage appliances...it turned out that fridges are his love but he has a soft spot for stoves and knows Chambers ranges inside and out. He actually drove to Indianapolis to retrieve our stove, delivered, installed and did all of the work on it. It was his suggestion that we install the saftey [i was willing to live dangerously considering how leaky this house is] system and offered this new old stock item. Seems he bought a dozen or a gross or however many he could when some local business closed it's doors. As per it's installation, I'm an idea guy, not a tech or engineering minded guy
